Teacher Education

Do we teach what we value and value what we teach?

Learning

What is Education?

As educators, we need begin by asking ourselves critical questions, What is education? Why do we teach children? What brought us to teaching? What do we hope for?

Self Reflection

Teachers are constantly working towards goals and deadlines. Rarely do they get a chance to stop and self-reflect. At DiversiThink, we hope to create spaces for reflection and self-reflection. These valuable practices can help teacher focus on what is important and create a positive learning environment.

Classroom Management

Classroom management can also be conceptualized in different ways. This is very related to how we think about education and it’s purpose. Enforcing obedience and militaristic control in a classroom is not good teaching.

Teacher’s Journey map

After we have answered the critical questions about what we believe education is, we can begin our own journey-mapping. This can be done by following the next step: self-reflection.

Teaching Young Children ‘the basics’

At DiversiThink, we believe that we need to challenge what is normalized and seen as ‘the basics’ or ‘the classics’. As educators, we need to meet children where they are in today’s world and learn with and from them.

Working in Collaboration

Working with other teachers and educators in teams brings a sense of collective accomplishment. As educators we get very engrossed in teaching the syllabus and teaching to the tests, but what if we developed inter-school and intra-school collaborations to enhance our teaching practices?

Child-led Curriculum

Children bring their own funds of knowledge to the classroom. It is the responsibility of educators to learn from these funds of knowledge and see that they are acknowledged and valued in the classroom, as well as reflected in the curriculum.

Let’s build something great together.
